The group of Native Americans that first lived in St. Lucia were the Arawaks who were known to be very peaceful. They were also believed to come from northern South America around two hundred-four hundred AD. Then around eight hundred AD the more aggressive Caribs came. When they came to the island they claimed it and killed their men. While killing their men they assimilating their women. The French were known as the first European settlers. But the Arawaks were the first to live on the island and the ones who discovered it. Now St. Lucia is very beautiful while many people live there and tour the island.
